SCHOONER:The 36 ft. Gaff-RIgged Schooner was designed and constructed by the late Charles R. Joslin, Jr. who in the late eighties brought this fine vessel to within 60% of completion before his passing.

LOA:36' BEAM: 10' 10" DRAFT: 6' DISP: 20,000

CONSTRUCTION:Carvel planked using 1 1/4" native cedar planking fastened with Everdur screws on 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" steam-bent white oak frames. Stem, Keel, stern post, horn timber and deadwood are oak, fastened with Everdur rod. Floors are 1 3/4" oak, thru bolted. Sheer clamp is 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" oak. Carlins are thru-bolted to sheer clamp with 3/8" bronze tie-rods every 26". Coamings and cabin sides are 1 3/8" pine, edge-glued and vertically bolted into Carlins and deck beams with 5/16" bronze rod. Decks and cockpit sole are 1 1/8" cedar, ready for caulking. A varnished spruce bowsprit is mounted forward, bolted between twin oak bitts and extending approximately 7' beyondthe oak cutwater and billet head. The hull and frames are painted, inside and out with Cuprinol and/or red lead primer. The 1 1/4" bronze rudder shaft, gudgeon and rudder bearing are installed, as is the Edson mechanical steering gear and edson spoke bronze wheel. The vessel will be internally ballasted. The hull is completely caulked and ready for putty.

ENGINE:Volvo 17D Series 3000, 3 cyl. Diesel, 29HP, FWC with heat exchanger, 2.37.1 reduction gear. Inside and out stuffing boxes have been installed. Engine is mounted on oak beds with resilient mounts.

ELECTRICAL:Not installed at this time.

SAILS & RIGGING:None installed at this time. A basic sail plan has been drawn showing Main, Mizzen and 2 foresails. Total sail area estimated to be 775 sq. ft. Main mast steps through deck ahead of forward cabin, Mizzen steps through bridge deck between cabins.

ACCOMODATIONS: Designed to sleep 5 in two trunk cabins. Ceiling is 1" x 2 1/2" cedar. Headroom in FWD cabin is 6'2". Rope locker forward followed by V-berths with stowage below ( Main mast steps between berths). Next Aft on port side is single berth/ settee. On stbd side is hanging locker followed by galley area with location for stove, stowage lockers, sink and ice box. Cut outs for two round port lights in cabin front, four oval port lights in cabin sides. Framing is in place overhead for two opening hatches. Cabin sole is framed but unfinished. Aft blkhd is tongue and groove pine, all others are marine grade fir plywood. Companionway is offset to stbd. Aft cabin has no furniture in place. The engine is located here. Cabin is 7' long. It is assumed that at least two berths were to be located here. Headroom is about 5'10".
